How??

How do you keep a 96 pound black lab "quiet" for a month? No, seriously. I need to know. Our big boy is supposed to be taking it easy to help what we think is cruciate injury. The vet couldn't be for sure because he was not letting her check real easily. So right now we are supposed to be keeping him off of it for a month to see if it starts to get better on its own. If not, he gets sedated and he gets x-rays and then depending on the results, possibly surgery. Unfortunately, he does not like to cooperate with the taking it easy part of this deal. They spend most of their time inside, but as soon as he goes out he runs around like the nut that he is. And yes, we know he is over weight. I have known this for awhile, but Michael hates to hear it. We are working on that...kind of.

Nothing....

so far no more activity. I'm extremely disappointed, but my OB said I could go any time!! But she also said I could hold out the next 2 weeks. I think the not knowing after the false alarm is what is driving me nuts. I was sure I was in labor last time. False labor should not be allowed to hurt that bad.

On a brighter note.... We FINALLY got Piper's furniture today!! Well, we actually took the stuff on the floor and got a 10% discount! We put that towards ordering the rails for when the bed gets made into full size! Right now the furniture is sitting in the back of the truck waiting for someone to call us back about helping Michael move it in. I offered to help in hopes that it might jump start something, but I was shot down. Can't figure out why...

Anyway, I'll take some pictures later when we get the furniture in and set up in the room! I am so relieved to finally have it here! Well, I'm off to find some sort of nesting to do!

False Alarm

One of my biggest fears in pregnancy came true overnight. I went to the hospital having seriously painful contractions and they sent me home. Apparently eating and staying hydrated are a good thing to do if normally, but very very important if you are pregnant. Allisyn has been feeling bad the past couple of days, the beginnings of the kind of bad she felt like when she had the dreaded gastroenteritis. So I guess I just got so preoccupied with trying to make her feel better mixed with the fact that I am pretty tired from not getting much sleep the 2 nights before just made my body complain.

I'm having a really hard time not being mad at myself because my wonderful SIL came up down from Stillwater to watch Allisyn, and Michael got less than 2 hours of sleep before going into work. Though I have consumed what seems to me like quite a bit, I am still having contractions. So maybe, just maybe Piper will be here in the near future.

Another Pregnancy Brain Moment...

So today as we are walking OUT of church Michael told me something was up with my skirt. He said, you have a pocket on your hip. Ummmm, what? Yes that is right, I was wearing my skirt sideways. I don't wear it very often so I didn't know there were pockets at all. There are, and they are supposed to be in the back. Not one on my hip and one in the middle of my bum. I am just hoping that no one else noticed. I would hope that if they did, they would have told me, but what can you do?

We found out yesterday that our house can entertain about 52 people. About half of those people were age 4 and under. It was crowded, but it was fun. We were hosting a going away party for some friends who are leaving us for sunny California. We will miss them greatly. We were glad we could open up our house. We both breathed a big sigh of relief when it was over because you never really know how smoothly things will go, but it seemed to go pretty well.

Everyone is adjusting to Sylvester being gone. Thursday and Friday were really hard. Allisyn asked for him a lot and didn't appreciate the answer that he was going to go live with Jesus. She doesn't ask for him too much anymore, but the cats still go around and look for him.

My wonderful SIL gets back in town today and I am going to start trying some the things that can bring on labor. Fresh pineapple, walking, curb walking. Nothing too crazy, but I am READY to have Piper here, and ready to have my body back. Even if we don't have her furniture yet. I'm not holding my breath too much over any of it really working, but I'm gonna try!

Well this was very random, but at least it is an update!

Saying Good-Bye

We have been having a lot of discussions about what do to with our beloved Sylvester lately. Since he has recently bitten Allisyn twice we had pretty much decided that if he bit her again we would have to put him down.

Fast forward to yesterday. Michael had him at the vet because he has been peeing on everything and turns out he has a bladder infection. Treatable with antibiotics. All would have been well, except he decided to take his stress and frustration out on the poor vet tech. He got her pretty good. This in itself would not have been too big of a deal except we don't keep our cats current on their Rabies vaccines. They never go outside and only come in contact with our dogs.

Edmond law states that is an automatic death sentence, but the officer gave us the option of quarantining him. So our options are, put him through the torture of quarantine and give him the opportunity to bite again under stress. Or go ahead and put him down. Either option if he bites again he has to be put down.

So please keeps us in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow, as we have to tell Sylvester good-bye. Especially think of Michael because he has never had to do this before and he has had Sylvester going on 10 years. Also think of Allisyn and pray that she quickly accepts that Sylvester is going to live with Jesus. She was very concerned yesterday when he had to be gone.

I have been tagged....

I usually get lucky and get skipped over when these go around so I won't complain about this one!

I got tagged by Kristen

6 Quirky things about me

1. I cannot sleep in a room with any kind of green light. DVD players, clocks, smoke detectors, if they have a green light they must be turned off, unplugged, or light covered or I will not sleep.

2. I have to be the one who operates garage door opener.

3. If there is more than one light switch to operate a light, then they have to go a certain way. It really bugs me when they are "backwards" and I have to fix them.

4. If I don't know a number that shows up on my phone and Michael is with me, I will make him answer it. Most times I will let it go to voicemail if he is not with me.

5. The ONLY shoes that I wear at home are soft house slipper flip-flop things. All other shoes get kicked off as soon as I walk in the door. Most times I just go barefoot.

6.I hate for dirty dishes to be sitting on the counter. If they are dirty, put them in the sink. My husband does not seem to get how much this really irritates me and is always sitting his dirty dishes right by the sink.

It's nesting....

at least that is what I'm giving myself as an excuse. I am waaaaay behind on Alli's scrapbook and waaaay behind on organizing all my pictures. So over the past 24 hours I have successfully uploaded all my digital pictures to two online sources and ordered about 347 prints. Some of them are doubles for grandparents. Now I am hoping that I can get in gear and get to work on Alli's book and get caught up a bit. Allisyn and Michael just left for bowling and I am sitting out on yoga because I am just too tired so I should make some good progress tonight. I'm not one of those really crafty people who spend hours and hours on a page so I think I can get a lot done.

Not much else exciting going on. The end of pregnancy is wearing on me and I think I have gotten about 5 hours of sleep the past 2 nights. Piper Grace really knows how to move. I swear she is trying to find a way to bust out. Allisyn NEVER made me double over or cry in pain with her movements. Piper succeeds at both quite a bit. I'm ready to be done.

Pictures

This is a picture from my baby shower with our class at church. Even with my "nice" camera, it came out kind of fuzzy. This is one of the reason's I decided to get another point and shoot camera.

I had a wonderful time at the shower and really appreciate everyone who put it together!

Yes we do what all the other people do. We got Rock Band. I still suck. We don't really play it that often, because usually Allisyn gets upset that we aren't paying attention to her. Here is Michael and my brother playing before Alli's birthday party. Alli likes rocking the drums when she does let us play.

Yummm!!! This is Allisyn enjoying some of her cake. I didn't get too many shots at her party, but I know others did and they will be sending them to me. My BIL already has, I just have to figure out how to save them to my computer....

This is Alli, being cute. I'm pretty sure this is not the original shot, but the shot I was playing around with the editing stuff on the new camera with.

Again, with the cuteness. She really can't help it.

Please ignore the mess in the background. She passed out one night while we were getting ready for bed.

Here is Alli and Aunt Brandi on the little train ride at the zoo.

Allisyn helping prime Piper's room. I'm pretty sure we have gotten it all off of her now!

Allisyn and Michael bowling. I've only seen them once, but they go quite a bit. I think I was a distraction to her because Michael said she usually does better when I'm not there.

And the Winner Is.....

Dustin and Rachel! My brother and sister-in-law come in first by a long haul for getting Allisyn's favorite birthday present! They got her a cash register with a hand held scanner that also doubles as a phone. We haven't even put batteries in it, and she absolutely loves it. Coming in second is the back pack, hat and flashlight my aunt Sandy got her. She likes that she can turn the flashlight on and off herself. She really needs to work on not shinning it in other people's eyes.

She got a lot of nice clothes, but those gifts went straight to mom. She would pull out the paper, see it wasn't a toy and toss it to mom. It was cute.

We also had her 2 year check up and she is doing great. We aren't 100% that they have her height correct, but we haven't checked it out for sure. When we made her mark in the laundry room we got 35 3/4 inches. Then less than a week later, they measured her at 36 1/2 inches. I'm pretty certain she didn't grow 3/4 inch in 5 days. Her daddy came in right when they were measuring her and I was working on getting her to get off her tip toes. I'm not sure if she was all the way down when the nurse made her decision.

We have found out that Allisyn really enjoys playing with play dough! We just introduced her to it the other day. We don't really have a reason for waiting so long to let her play with it other than we never had any. It is fun to play with her. She really likes you to cut out stars. It is so amazing the way their little minds process new information and respond to new experiences.

Well, once again Miss Piper is making it really uncomfortable for me to sit.

A month!!

I have a month left until my due date. Well, ok a month and a day, but I keep thinking Allisyn came 4 days before her due date so I am being optimistic that I will have Piper within the month! I am sooo ready. My body is sooo ready to not have share it's internal space with a kung fu baby. I would like to say that the nursery is finished and ready to go, but I can't. Why? Because I still don't have furniture. I may not get all of my furniture before Piper gets here. I'm NOT happy about it. The crib is suppose to ship on the 15th. The dresser isn't suppose to ship until Aug 8th. They tried to be all sweet and be like, well the crib is the important part. Ummmm, not when your child will be in a co-sleeper for a couple of months, and you have 2 baskets of clothes waiting to go in your dresser. BUT I did not go off on anyone, I just cried in the truck on the way home.

Allisyn's party went well. I am really glad we decided to keep it small. According to Michael, it got boring at times, but I informed him that we were not trying to entertain our families, we were just celebrating Alli turning two. She had fun and that was all that was important. It was nice because she didn't really get overloaded with a bunch of stuff to add to the clutter of her playroom.

We got the check stuff sorted out as well. Somehow Bank of America sent it to Bank of Oklahoma and BOK ended up apologizing for any inconvenience that they had nothing to do with. At least we can wrap up the stuff with the 4Runner. Well, I'm wrapping this up now, just because I can't stay sitting down with Piper trying to bust out of my ribs. Hopefully pictures will come soon.....

HAPPY 4TH!!!

So Allisyn's birthday was a nice day. We didn't do anything because I spent a huge chunk of the day with my cousin at the Oklahoma Health Department. Actually it was my mom, sister, and cousin. She was getting her kids' last names changed on their birth certificates. For some reason, I had to go. I think it was more me getting them to where they needed to go. Of all the Wednesdays she could have come down, she decided to choose my daughter's birthday? I'm trying to let it go, but I'm having a hard time with it, if you couldn't tell.

Allisyn was very excited to see her Aunt Katy, though. My sister should really come and see her more, but Allisyn enjoys the time she does get with her. Allisyn enjoyed having her dad home all day. They went and got a blow up ball thingy. Michael wanted to get a tent, but thankfully they didn't have any, so he settled for the blow up ball toy. Surprisingly enough, they are not all over the house!

We were FINALLY able to pay off the 4Runner today! Bank of America put the money in our account yesterday and luckily USAA was open today (strange huh?) and we got it paid off. Now all we wait for is the lien release and get to the guy and we will be DONE with it!! YAY!!

Well, I really should be cleaning and getting the house ready for Allisyn's party tomorrow, but goofing on the computer is so much more relaxing.

Two Years Ago Tomorrow...

Allisyn Renee Hurlbut made her way into the world! I cannot believe my baby is almost 2! This also marks my 100th post! I started my blog around her birthday last year. Here is my post from last year. I should probably go back and edit it. When I read it, there were some pretty bad mistakes, but I won't. All the blog is, Allisyn's birth story retold from a year later. It was one of the happiest days in my life!

I cannot believe she is going to be 2. It has really gone by way too fast. So far, I have not broken down, but I'm sure it will come. Michael has off and we will get to spend the day together. Not sure exactly what we will be doing yet, but we are doing SOMETHING! We are having her party on Saturday. We decided since we had to have it on the holiday weekend, we are keeping it small. So many people will be out of town or doing things with their families, we did not want to have people feeling bad when they told us they couldn't come!

We have her 2-year check up scheduled for next Monday. It will be nice to see how tall she is. Everyone keeps asking us, but we have no idea! We will probably making her mark on the wall tomorrow, so I guess we could just measure that. We shall see.

The closer it gets to Piper being here, the more I just want to hang out with Allisyn. I know that most mom's go through this. I just really want to enjoy the time I have left with just me and Allisyn. Don't get me wrong, I'm ready for Piper to be here. I'm ready to be able to sit and breathe normally again! I'm just going to try to enjoy the rest my time alone with Allisyn to the fullest.

I will try to post some pictures soon. I really need to do better with pictures.
